Step Teachers Manchester are hiring for a Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant in Bury.

This is a Full time & Long term role, starting in September at a Secondary Alternative Education Provision in Bury.
Role: SEMH Teaching Assistant at Secondary Alternative Education Provision in Bury.
Start date: September 2025.
Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm.
Contract: Long term - potential to turn into a perm contract for the right person.
Excellent pay: £95-110/day DOE - for first 12 weeks. Equal pay to perm staff from 13th week onwards.
· Paid PAYE direct via Now Education. We don't use umbrella companies!
What you'll do:
· Support children with Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs (SEMH), challenging behaviours, and Autism in class.
· Show empathy, patience, and perseverance to pupils from vulnerable backgrounds.
· Identify triggers and use preventative and de-escalation strategies for behaviour management.
· Break down tasks and instructions for easier understanding and achievement.
· Support the wider class or other pupils as needed.
· Provide encouragement and positive reinforcement.
· Work closely with teachers, support staff, parents, and outside professionals.
· Maintain a safe, positive, inclusive, and collaborative environment.
