Job Title: Project Controls Lead
Location: Chorley (Hybrid - onsite as required)

Role Overview
The Project Controls Lead is responsible for driving excellence across the Defence portfolio, providing senior oversight of project schedules, budgets, and reporting. Acting as the primary Project Controls interface, this role ensures accurate, realistic, and achievable planning while supporting decision-making, mitigating risks, and maintaining stakeholder confidence.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Oversight
Lead Project Controls activity across the portfolio, setting standards, embedding best practice, and mentoring junior staff.
Act as the main point of contact for Project Controls within the portfolio.
Ensure all project work meets NIS Project Controls standard requirements.
Oversee quality assurance of programme data and reporting prior to internal or client release.

Planning & Scheduling
Develop, maintain, and manage integrated, cost- and resource-loaded P6 schedules and baselines.
Monitor and control schedules throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
Apply change control, assess impacts, and provide evidence-based recommendations.
Conduct scenario and "what-if" planning to support conflict resolution and decision-making.

Performance & Reporting

Produce and review portfolio and project reporting for PCM, Head of Projects, and Operations Director.
Monitor critical path, earned value, and cost forecasts, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Review resource forecasts and escalate conflicts or opportunities as required.
Analyse schedule and cost performance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.

Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, supply chain, and internal teams.
Provide expert advice to project managers and teams to support mitigation or recovery actions.
Influence decisions and manage conflicts to safeguard project performance.

Continuous Improvement & Development
Identify and implement enhancements to Project Controls processes, tools, and reporting.
Actively coach and mentor team members to develop capability and embed best practices.
Maintain personal and professional competency through CPD and training, supporting team development.
