Summary

As Programmes and Governance Manager, at the Civil Service Commission, you will play a crucial role driving progress and coordinating activity within a high-profile, independent non-departmental public body. Your work will sit at the heart of the Commission’s work with Commissioners, departments and senior leaders. You will work collaboratively with colleagues of all grades and roles across the organisation to drive and hold it to account for its activities.

Due to the nature of the role the successful candidate will spend at least 60% of the week in the office.

Key responsibilities

  • Overseeing the programme management of each of the key priority projects identified by the Board within the new CSC strategy.
  • Leading on progress and impact reporting on key projects to the senior team, the First Civil Service Commissioner and the Board, including through designing appropriate written products and verbal updates.
  • Proactively maintaining and driving the CSC governance forward look, working with the Head of Policy and Compliance to programme agendas to ensure projects are progressed and forums used effectively to produce time-appropriate steers on next steps.
  • Leading the coordination of agendas, papers and organisation of quarterly Board meetings and eight Board Development meetings.
  • Coordinating the drafting, clearances and distribution of papers and lead the drafting of minutes and transparency processes.
  • Drafting a range of written outputs, including briefings for seniors ahead of key meetings.
  • Line management of 1 x HEO
  • Providing support to the Chief Executive and First Civil Service Commissioner, managing their diaries, organising travel and providing support when required.
