Summary

Personal Specification GP RoleClinical Responsibilities Deliver high-quality Personal Medical Services to patients in both surgery and home settings. Respond to medical issues presented by patients on the practice list, including history taking, examination, diagnosis, investigation, treatment, referral where appropriate, and accurate documentation with READ coding in the GP computer system (EMIS). Provide health promotion, preventative care, and lifestyle advice within a primary care context. Maintain clinical records in line with the electronic patient record system. Perform two surgeries daily (each 2.53 hours) using a mix of face-to-face, video, and telephone consultations. Be available between core hours of 08:0018:30. Triage and undertake home visits as required. Sign prescriptions and manage patient/practice correspondence promptly. Participate in the Duty Doctor rota, and provide emergency cover for absent colleagues when necessary. Support achievement of practice targets, including QOF, Enhanced Services, and other contractual requirements. Professional Standards & Development Provide services that meet high clinical quality standards, ensuring consistency and responsiveness to patient needs. Comply with clinical governance requirements, continuous improvement processes, and annual appraisal obligations. Engage in ongoing professional development, lifelong learning, and mentoring. Share expertise and best practice with colleagues, contributing to team learning and skills development. Lead on identifying and implementing best practice through benchmarking, clinical guidelines, and evidence-based research. Contribute to service development, demonstrating a positive and constructive approach to change. Build links with educational institutions to support training and a learning environment. Service Development, Research & Evaluation Participate in service evaluation through audits, research, and performance monitoring. Contribute to the creation and implementation of policies, clinical guidelines, and protocols. Maintain effective relationships with health and social care providers, voluntary organisations, and service users. Use the latest clinical evidence to shape services in line with local and national priorities. Identify and implement strategies to involve service users in service development. Human Resources & Equality Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in line with NHS and practice policies. Comply with all practice and NHS operational policies, including computer usage policies. Health & Safety Ensure all equipment is safe, well-maintained, and used in accordance with safe systems of work. Oversee safe handling, storage, and transportation of equipment, substances, and materials. Provide staff with relevant health and safety information, supervision, and training. Maintain safe access to and from premises at all times. Avoid interference or misuse of anything provided in the interest of health, safety, or welfare.
