Summary
Your new company
Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a two-form entry mainstream primary school in Warrington that is at the heart of its local community as they are looking to appoint an experienced and motivated teaching assistant to support their KS2 resource provision. This is a long-term full-time position that will last the full academic year within a mixed KS2 resource provision that supports pupils with complex and profound SEN.
Your new role
In your new role as a teaching assistant within this school, you will offer holistic support to pupils with complex and profound SEN and support the class teacher in delivering an inclusive, engaging and stimulating learning environment for your pupils. As the pupils you are supporting have a variety of different needs, including ASD, LD, and non-verbal, they will require individual 1:1 support throughout the school day, ensuring that all needs, both academic and physical, are met. Your typical duties will consist of speech and language interventions, positive behaviour support, stimulating academic activities and sensory stimulation. Due to the needs of the pupils you will be supporting, they will at times present complex behavioural needs. These will not be presented due to personal grievances but as a means of communicating their frustration, if they are triggered, or if something has upset them. When this does happen, you will implement a positive behaviour strategy. In the event of an escalation, you will remove them from the class, take them to the playground to burn off steam or take them to the sensory to regulate before reintegrating them back into the classroom.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, a minimum of 40 days referenceable classroom experience in the last 2 years, and:
- Referenceable experience supporting pupils with SEN (ASD and non-verbal is advantageous)
- Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract, 32.5 hours per week
- Have experience managing/supporting complex behavioural needs
- An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification is advantageous but not essential
What you'll get in return
If you are successful in your application, you will receive the full support, dedication and guidance of an experienced senior DfE accredited recruitment consultant, as well as a wide range of benefits that include:
- Free training
- Upfront cost of DBS covered
- Long-term contract
- Competitive rate of pay
- Company pension scheme
- Full holiday entitlement
- Access to exclusive vacancies
- Refer a Friend scheme
