Summary

We are recruiting a Directorate Support Officer vacancy within the Performance Research & Intelligence (PRI) service. PRI’s core function is “to ensure decision makers in Manchester have the evidence and intelligence they need to shape strategic and operational thinking, and to demonstrate the impact those choices have on our priorities.”.

PRI's service delivery is set out across three thematic multidisciplinary teams, People, Place and Core. This role will be in the Place team and will report to Senior Analysts.

The roles help PRI meet our functional remit by supporting the development and production of strategic performance, research and intelligence products and delivering them to Departmental Management Teams and Service Managers. In addition, these roles will work together with other colleagues, across PRI, on service issues and projects to deliver directorate and corporate objectives.
You'll work to support colleagues in understanding services and service needs, to assist with ensuring that key issues relating to PRI support are effectively addressed and coordinated across the authority and relevant partner organisations.

You can expect to be involved in projects that support the delivery of key Council services and that support decision making at both the operational and strategic levels. The roles will help colleagues across the organisation access and make best use of data that enables them to understand and develop their services to provide the best outcomes for our residents.

About the Candidate

We are looking for candidates with a balance of skills, knowledge and experience combined with motivation and a commitment to Our Manchester behaviours. You would be ideal for this role if you have a mix of technical knowledge, skills and experience needed to obtain, transform and analyse data along with the soft skills required to effectively communicate complex ideas and problem solve in a busy performance, research and insight team. You will be comfortable with switching between different service delivery contexts and working on a mix of business-as-usual and project based pieces of work.

- Effective communicators, possessing both written and verbal communication skills that help them both understand and influence stakeholders
- ICT and data literate, capable of the extraction, organisation and formatting of data
- Analytically minded, able to support with the capture and translation of business requirements into technical requirements which support their team to extract, analyse and present the right data
- Experienced in the development of data orientated products, such as performance reports, dashboards and statutory reports
- Organised and able to plan out and deliver multiple tasks in effective and efficient ways and in conjunction with colleagues
- Interested in innovation and technology and willing to learn and apply new skills within their role
- Able to demonstrate sound professional judgement and the ability to handle competing priorities whilst maintaining Data Protection and information security guidelines
- Strategic in their thinking, able to understand the bigger picture around their work and contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of pieces of work.
