Summary
Clinical Responsibilities To be responsible for the unsupervised assessment of patient care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of plans of care, ensuring high standards of evidence-based care. To recognise changes in patients conditions and respond appropriately to the situation in line with Trust policies. Professional Responsibilities Maintain a professional behaviour at all times, promoting and representing the organisation with a positive image in line with the Trusts values. To comply with Trust policies and practice within the NMC Standards and guidelines. Management and Leadership Responsibilities To supervise unqualified staff, to ensure that they have the knowledge, skills and resources to carryout delegated aspects of care. To participate in student training as required ensuring that a suitable learning environment is maintained. Education and Training To assist when necessary, with induction and orientation programmes for staff ensuring that the needs of the ward are met. To participate in the sharing of knowledge with colleagues. Service Management The postholder will ensure that they are aware of all issues relating to Clinical Governance, Quality assurance and Clinical Effectiveness and that they carry out their duties in accordance with these frameworks and standards. To assist when necessary with the initiation and evaluation of any projects or research appropriate to the services provided within the ward. To assist the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to set objectives for self-evaluating any change and helping to initiate same. General Responsibilities To undertake specific responsibilities individually negotiated to reflect the practitioners skills and interests and the needs of the ward. To develop high standards of nursing care, reflecting the beliefs about nursing practice outlined in the ward philosophy and Trust values.
