We are seeking a dedicated and skilled SEMH Teacher to join a committed team at a specialist school in Essex. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, helping them re-engage with education and achieve their full potential.
In this role, you will plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons designed to meet the needs of learners with SEMH. Your approach will be both nurturing and structured, using effective behaviour management strategies and trauma-informed practice to create a safe and positive classroom environment.
This is a full-time, permanent position in a specialist SEMH setting, starting in September 2025. The role comes with excellent benefits, a collaborative team, and opportunities for ongoing professional development.

Key Responsibilities
•
Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to students with SEMH needs
•
Build strong, trusting relationships that support student progress and wellbeing
•
Implement behaviour management strategies consistently and effectively
•
Monitor and record student progress, adapting plans where necessary
•
Collaborate with support staff, therapists, and other professionals
•
Contribute to curriculum planning and development within the school
•
Support students' personal, social, and emotional growth alongside academic learning
•
Engage in professional development and share best practice with colleagues
Qualifications and Experience
•
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
•
Experience teaching in SEMH, PRU, or alternative provision (preferred)
•
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
•
Understanding of trauma-informed approaches and SEND strategies
•
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•
Resilience, flexibility, and a student-centred mindset
•
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
