As part of the Active Care team, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality childcare, leading creative and active sessions, and fostering a positive, supportive atmosphere in one of our after-school club settings.

This opportunity is ideal for Teaching Assistants, nursery practitioners, or anyone with a passion for working with children and creating enriching experiences in a flexible, part-time role.

The Company
First Step Sports Group is a leading physical activity & training provider, collaborating with schools, local authorities, community groups, businesses, and individuals across the North of England.
Based in Yorkshire, with an expanding network of experienced team members located across the region, the business is comprised of several divisions, each specialising in a different area of physical activity development and delivery: First Step Physical Education, First Step Training, First Step Cycle, Ballers, Active Care and Kids Takeover.

The Position
We are looking for an organised, enthusiastic, and caring Afterschool Club Lead to deliver a variety of play-based activities for children aged 4–7 in our childcare provision.

You’ll be confident, creative, and able to engage young children in a safe and stimulating environment. Experience working with primary-aged children is highly desirable.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 3:15 PM – 5:15 PM (Term-time only)

Responsibilities
• Support the day-to-day running of the after-school provision
• Deliver engaging and age-appropriate activities
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children
• Provide excellent customer service and liaise with parents/carers
• Act as the first point of contact for queries or concerns
• Promote the club within the school and local community
• Purchase and serve a light tea for children
• Provide cover during school holidays (as needed)

• Level 2/3 Childcare or playworker qualification (desirable)
• Level 2 Food Hygiene (training can be provided)
• Paediatric First Aid (training can be provided)
First Step Sports Group is an equal opportunity employer.

All successful candidates will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.
The recruitment process will consist of three stages: a telephone interview, a practical assessment, and a face-to-face interview.
Start date: 1st September
