We are seeking a highly skilled and bilingual (English/Japanese) Vice President to join our client in their London office. This front-office role is pivotal in supporting and expanding our credit-related business with Japanese corporate clients across the UK, Ireland, and other EMEA regions. You will play a dual role as both a Credit Analyst and Relationship Manager, responsible for credit risk assessment, borrower rating applications, and strategic client engagement. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic, international environment with a strong focus on Japanese corporates.
Your new role
Credit Risk & Analysis
- Prepare and submit credit applications and borrower ratings for complex and core clients.
- Conduct high-quality credit analysis, including sector and industry-specific insights.
- Collaborate with global offices and credit divisions to structure and deliver client solutions.
- Supervise and support junior analysts, ensuring quality and compliance with internal policies.
- Drive process improvements and support the implementation of credit risk standards.
- Stay informed on market trends and regulatory developments across EMEA.
Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and strategic engagement.
- Prepare client-facing materials and propose tailored financial solutions.
- Collaborate with internal product partners and international branches to deliver comprehensive services.
- Monitor and manage credit, market, operational, and conduct risks in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
What you'll need to succeed
Essentials
- Proven experience in credit analysis and/or relationship management with large or mid-sized corporates.
- Strong understanding of credit risk, financial products, and credit documentation.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills in both English and Japanese (verbal and written).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Desirable
- Experience working in a Japanese or international banking environment.
- MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
