Summary

Neway Recruitment are seeking a Transport Planner to join our client based with Barnet Council

Start Date: 18 August 2025 (initially for a 3-month contract that will be extended after review)
Hours: 36 per week (Mon–Fri, 09:00–17:15)

Pay Rate: PAYE: £31.91/hour Umbrella/Ltd: £41.81/hour

Barnet Council is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Transport Planner to help shape the future of sustainable transport across the borough. This is a pivotal role in supporting Barnet’s commitment to becoming a net zero borough by 2042, aligning with the ambitions of the Barnet Long-Term Transport Strategy.

You’ll be at the heart of planning and development, providing expert advice on transport implications and opportunities tied to new proposals. Your insights will help ensure developments contribute to inclusive, healthy, and sustainable transport systems.

Key Responsibilities
Advise on transport aspects of planning applications and strategies

Collaborate with planning and council teams to shape new developments

Review and update transport-related planning policies

Contribute to masterplans, town centre, and area-based strategies

Identify and secure funding for sustainable transport infrastructure

Promote active travel and sustainable mobility initiatives

What You’ll Bring
Proven experience in transport planning within a local authority or consultancy

Strong understanding of planning policy and development processes

Ability to communicate complex transport issues clearly and persuasively
