Summary
The Armed Forces and Veterans Services (AFVS) are responsible for the delivery of payroll, pensions, welfare and compensation services to over 180,000 regular and reserve personnel and 1 million veterans and their families via numerous IT platforms. The AFVS Data Team are responsible for delivering an effective data management and governance service, in accordance with Government/MoD's Data Strategies, Policies & Practices, for all AFVS’s systems which store, manage and process MoD business data, including their associated data interfaces. As a Data Steward you will support the delivery of an effective data governance practice across AFVS.
Work as part of a team with DBS’s Business Partner (SSCL) and Single Services, to implement effective data governance and management practices to all data holdings and data flows in AFVS estate.
Maintain working relationships with Data Customers ensuring that requirements are clearly understood, achievable, accurately articulated, offering advice where appropriate to ensure Customer requirements and expectations are met.
Support delivery and maintenance of AFVS Data Holdings Register. Including data flows in and out of those holdings. Assist with identifying potential new data holdings, including their business use, critical data contents, Data Quality requirements and metadata artifacts.
Manage and maintain Data Criticality Matrix’s for existing AFVS Data Holdings.
Undertake data lifecycle activities for AFVS business data, ensuring business critical data items are defined in each data holding/flow, purpose & use is understood and documented, and DQ rule requirements are identified as per criticality marking.
Support the delivery of AFVS’s data holding’s systems technical information and associated metadata documentation, including interface lineage. Publish to relevant stakeholders and consumers to promote intelligent use of data, iaw MoD/GDPR rules.
Maintain Data Team’s SharePoint sites. All sites to remain current both in contents & format, and information/documentation is readily available for use and protected from unauthorised access.
Support answering data related queries from stakeholders and consumers of AFVS data including use of Oracle Enterprise Metadata Management (OEMM) tooling.
Attend / participate in AFVS’s data and technical meetings meetings as required.
Cover for other team members as and when required to ensure Data Team’s service obligations/KPI’s are met.
Please note this role currently offers hybrid working arrangements with a minimum requirement to attend either Gosport or Glasgow Office 60% of the time (e.g. 3 days per week). The role does not attract any travelling/accommodation allowances.
