An exciting opportunity is available for a Band 4 Technical Instructor to support Occupational Therapists and wider Therapies and Education Services in the provision of high quality work, activity and therapy programmes within a Day Unit setting for patients within a high secure hospital. Skill specific support and supervision will be provided to staff within the OT Team and work may include some evenings and weekend working.

In return we offer a supportive environment to work within a motivated team who want to deliver quality outcomes for our patient group. In addition to the basic salary we offer £7000 high secure allowance.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

· Assist occupational therapists in the development and delivery of agreed specific individual and group therapeutic programmes within the unit

· Maintain appropriate levels of purposeful and therapeutic activity within the designated areas, and act as session lead as approppriate.

· Keep accurate, appropriate and contemporaneous patient records in accordance with the Forensic Information Governance Group and Trust policy

· Contribute to the training of other staff as required.

· Ensure the maintenance of a safe and secure treatment environment within a designated area.

The post is situated within the Forensic Division and located in a high secure setting. The post holder will work with patients who are at risk to themselves and others and require treatment in a high secure setting. The post holder will supervise, instruct and support patients in activities relating to their treatment programmes both within the unit and the community. Will hold particular responsibility for a specific area/activity.

· Keep accurate, appropriate and contemporaneous patient records in accordance with the Forensic Information Governance Group and Trust policy

· Maintain appropriate levels of purposeful and therapeutic activity within the designated areas

· Assist occupational therapists in the development and delivery of agreed specific individual and group therapeutic programmes within the unit

· Actively contribute to service development activities

· To undertake escorting duties as requested

· Attend relevant meetings as required

· Communicate effectively within the occupational therapy team and with other colleagues

· Be involved in Clinical Governance activities as required

· Accurately record statistical information

· Provide both oral and written reports about patients as required

· Undertake administrative tasks as required by the occupational therapy team and the unit

· Maintain stock in designated area as required

· Work to a high standard in completion of all duties

· Participate in quality assurance programmes as required
