DWP. Digital with Purpose.
We're searching for two Senior Product Managers to join DWP Digital's Children and Families team, helping deliver inclusive, user-centred services for separated families and expectant mothers. You'll lead product strategy, make evidence-based decisions, and guide service transformation across multiple teams, mentoring, engaging with stakeholders, and contributing to our Product Community.
Our teams use fresh ideas and leading-edge tech to build and maintain digital solutions that will be used by nearly every person in the UK, every day and at key moments in their lives.
DWP is the UK's largest government department. We help people into work and make payments worth over £195bn a year to support and empower millions of people.
The scale of what we do is extraordinary, the problems we have to solve are rich and complex, and our purpose is unique. We'd love you to join us.
What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?
- Working within constraints- You know how to influence and coach others while navigating constraints. You're confident in challenging where needed and can spot when constraints might shift, helping teams adapt and stay focused.
- Problem ownership- You're proactive in spotting problems early and taking action before they escalate. You see the bigger picture, help others understand the issue clearly, and build problem-solving confidence across the team.
- Product ownership- You set a clear direction for the product, shape the vision and roadmap, and bring the team along with you through open and effective communication.
- User-focus- You've got solid experience in putting users first, even when balancing competing priorities. You understand how to deliver value to the business without losing sight of what users need.
- Decision-making- You're comfortable making decisions under pressure or with limited information, using sound judgement to move things forward when it counts.
- Developing others- You're a natural leader who supports and grows others. You've mentored and coached product people and teams, helping them deliver high-quality products and services.
You and your role
We're on the lookout for two exceptional Senior Product Managers to join our award-winning Children and Families team at DWP Digital.
Our mission? To make sure separated families and expectant mums get the support they need to give children the best possible start in life. It's meaningful, complex work, supporting people through some of the toughest moments they'll face. And we're proud to be transforming how these services work, making them more inclusive, more joined-up, and more user-focused.
You'll be leading the charge across multiple products and teams, helping shape services that work across all channels and throughout the full journey. We've already made big strides in modernising how we support families, and now we're looking for visionary leaders who can take things even further.
If you're passionate about using tech to drive real social impact, this is your chance to make a genuine difference.
What you'll be doing
- Leading a complex area of work, making strategic and tactical product decisions based on evidence.
- Owning the product strategy and roadmap, and clearly communicating progress and success to stakeholders inside and outside DWP.
- Defending bold decisions and creating the space your team needs to deliver.
- Coaching and mentoring other product professionals, sharing your experience and techniques.
- Working independently and as part of a senior leadership team.
You'll also be part of our Product Community of Practice-a space where Product Managers across DWP Digital come together to share ideas, support each other, and solve common challenges.
