The Role…
We have an exciting and brand-new opportunity for a qualified CDM Designer / Principal Designer, to join us, as we embark on the AMP8 five-year investment cycle with Anglian Water.
This is a unique chance to be involved in one of the UK's largest main-laying programmes.
You will be responsible for Mains Renewal, overseeing the design and engineering of capital mains renewal schemes, focusing on trenchless and no-dig techniques, including insitu-structural liners.
You’ll ensure projects are delivered safely, on budget and within agreed timescales.
Here are some of the activities that you’ll get involved in…
- Actively engage in the governance processes for design schemes, ensuring effective collaboration and appropriate involvement in scheme overview/design packs before approval.
- Own and plan the risk and value root cause analysis for each solution design request, ensuring thorough analysis of business needs.
- Visit sites as necessay to undertake surveys, verify proposed solutions, identify equipment requirements, and hold site meetings with external stakeholders or support Delivery Team site checks.
- Undertake customer liaison in the field and problem solving issues. Ensure customer communication is in line with the defined delivery process.
- Maximise benefits within planned works by ensuring that the wider TOTEX opportunities are considered in all solutions.
- Project management of budgets and targets for each scheme.
We would love to hear from you, if you can demonstrate…
You have significant experience in water engineering, infrastructure, or capital projects, particularly involving water distribution systems and mains renewal design. You should possess strong contract management and site supervision skills, with a solid understanding of water supply and network operations. Familiarity with the regulatory framework, the ROV process especially Root Cause Analysis, and the ability to align solutions with service delivery are essential. Strategic thinking is key, with the capability to influence future company direction and understand infrastructure from strategic, tactical, and operational perspectives. Qualifications such as SMSTS, NRSWA supervisor training or willingness to train, and CDM/principal designer credentials are desirable.
