The Head of Marketing and External Affairs is responsible for leading and developing the marketing and external affairs function in the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).

You will oversee campaign and stakeholder engagement activities to support the achievement of DVSA’s vision to 2030. These activities include the design, development, implementation and evaluation of various behaviour change and recruitment campaigns, based on insight, to support the achievement of DVSA business objectives.

You will also be responsible for directing the ongoing development and successful implementation of DVSA’s approach to external affairs and its stakeholder engagement strategy. This includes improving relationships with existing stakeholders, developing new ones and securing partnerships to maximise the effectiveness of campaign communication activities and protect and enhance DVSA’s reputation.

As a Corporate Senior Leader (CSL), you will work in collaboration with other leaders across DVSA to help shape its longer term aims and develop the culture, mission, vision, values and behaviours.

Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Design, develop, and manage the implementation of a strategic approach to marketing and external affairs in DVSA. Ensure communications and business objectives are set, activities are insight-driven and outcomes are effectively evaluated.
  • Build and/or improve meaningful relationships with targeted external audiences, stakeholders, media, and key influencers to achieve business objectives and protect and enhance DVSA’s reputation.
  • Lead the development and delivery of a highly effective, professional, and creative marketing function, ensuring the preparation and implementation of an overarching marketing strategy and plan for DVSA.
  • Set standards for external affairs in DVSA. Plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate DVSA’s stakeholder engagement strategy and external affairs approach, based on the Government Communication Service (GCS) Modern Communication Operating Model principles.
  • As subject matter expert, provide sound professional advice and guidance to the CEO, directors and colleagues on marketing strategy and stakeholder engagement, including risks, issues, and opportunities.
