This is an exciting and fast paced opportunity to join the Research Services office, in our friendly and supportive Costing Team. The team provides expert advice, guidance and administrative support to Lancaster University’s research community whilst applying for research grants. The post is 1 FTE but, we will consider appointing one full-time or two part-time staff. Suitable applicants interested in applying for this post on a secondment basis will be considered.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the team to take on a varied and demanding role. The position provides administrative support for academics to support them with their costs, whilst ensuring compliance with terms and conditions during the application process for research funding. You will work across a wide spectrum of external funders as well as academic and administrative staff across the university.

You should have experience of providing excellent customer-service focused administrative support, recent financial administration experience and have confidence using computer packages to complete tasks quickly and accurately within strict deadlines.

You should also have excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing high standards of customer service. You should be self-motivated and keen to develop new skills which will be supported by peers and managers.

The team works flexibly and is using a flexible and hybrid approach to working on campus and at home, although we would expect the successful candidate to be on campus more during the initial training period.

We are proactive in engagement with our staff to help us understand the lived experiences of our university community and to understand how we are doing in creating a fairer and more inclusive University.  Our multi-faith Chaplaincy Centre is a welcoming place for people of all faiths and none.  It includes facilities for the Baha’i, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Islam and Jewish faiths and also a Muslim Prayer Room.

You will benefit from a range of staff benefits including generous holiday entitlement, pension scheme and our flexible benefit scheme.
