Summary
Teaching Assistant - Autism Support (Full-Time)
Location: Newark, Nottinghamshire (NG24)
Daily Rate: £90 - £100
Contract Type: Temporary to permanent
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm (term-time only)
Start Date: Immediate start available

The school focuses on providing a calm, supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to build confidence, improve communication, and develop independence at their own pace.
This full-time role is ideal for someone who understands the unique strengths and challenges of autistic learners and is ready to support them in reaching their full potential.
Key Responsibilities Include:

Supporting pupils aged 5 to 16 in both 1:1 and small group settings

Assisting in delivering individual learning programmes and maintaining consistent routines

Encouraging communication and participation through engaging, tailored activities

Supporting pupils during transitions and helping reduce anxiety
Supporting pupils during transitions and helping reduce anxiety

Collaborating with teachers to provide targeted, motivating lessons

Contributing to a calm, inclusive and respectful classroom environment

We're Looking for Candidates With:

Recent experience in a UK school setting
Recent experience in a UK school setting

A relevant qualification such as CACHE Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)
A relevant qualification such as CACHE Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)

A good understanding of autism and its impact on learning and behaviour

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust and rapport

Desirable Experience Includes:

Supporting non-verbal pupils or those using AAC systems

Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or sensory-based strategies
Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or sensory-based strategies
