The Opportunity
A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to support the delivery of detailed design packages across multiple machines and systems. The role involves contributing to a range of lifting, mechanical handling, and process equipment, with a focus on high standards of technical output and documentation accuracy.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

- Create or update mechanical design drawings using AutoCAD based on engineers’ redlines or instruction.
- Deliver complete drawing work packages that comply with internal standards and external design requirements.
- Contribute to the full lifecycle of design work – from early-stage concept through to detailed and manufacturing drawings.
- Support project delivery across several systems and machines concurrently.
- Ensure all drawings follow relevant national and international drafting standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation using internal drawing management systems.
- Collaborate closely with design engineers to ensure alignment on technical solutions.
- Provide input on drawing improvements or optimisations where applicable.
- Handle technical queries related to drawing content or clarity.
- Ensure version control and configuration of drawing updates is properly maintained.

You will have the following qualifications and experience

- Strong AutoCAD proficiency with experience in a mechanical design environment.
- Ability to generate or amend detailed drawings from marked-up sketches or engineering instructions.
- Solid understanding of technical drawing standards such as BS 8888 and related GPS principles.
- Capable of producing high-quality design deliverables for concept, detail and manufacturing purposes.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for inter-disciplinary collaboration.
