About the RoleWe are seeking a reliable, adaptable, and motivated General Cover Teacher to work full-time in a vibrant and forward-thinking secondary school in Wakefield, starting in September 2025. You will be responsible for delivering pre-prepared lessons across a broad range of subjects and Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring that students continue to make progress while their usual teacher is absent.

Essential Requirements- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Right to work in the UK
- Experience working with students aged 11-16
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
- Strong classroom and behaviour management
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Quick to build rapport with students and staff
- Calm and professional under pressure
- Confident in delivering unfamiliar subject content
- Organised, punctual, and reliable
- Flexible and proactive approach to teaching
- Able to adapt teaching methods to suit diverse learning needs
- Enthusiastic about contributing to a positive school culture
- Committed to safeguarding and student wellbeing
- Deliver pre-set work across a range of curriculum areas and year groups
- Create a positive and structured learning environment
- Follow the school's behaviour and safeguarding policies
- Support students in staying focused and engaged
- Apply strategies to meet the needs of different learners
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and participation
- Uphold the school's values in every classroom interaction
- Liaise with subject leaders and senior staff where appropriate
