Start Date: 1st January 2026An Occupational Therapist (OT) is required to work within a multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will progress the OT specific therapeutic services where the needs of individuals vary in levels of functioning, many with a diagnosis of autism as well as associated needs such as complex and developmental trauma alongside learning disabilities. Needs are complex and require a systemic and formulation-based approach. You will be a part of a multi-disciplinary, well-being and therapeutic services team which is required to meet the needs of the vulnerable people within our services. The team includes Speech and Language Therapists, behaviour support team, external therapists and our Occupational Therapy Team who are currently external providers. We also have an onsite Occupational Therapy Assistant. Someone with a holistic and integrated approach to care, education and clinical services would be perfect for this role. Who are we looking for? We are looking for a practitioner who has a clear vision of what outstanding therapeutic services look like. You would need to demonstrate drive, motivation, resilience and the ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams. St Nicholas School is a community Special school for 276 pupils aged 4-11 with MLD, SLD, ASD, Speech and Language Needs, Downs Syndrome and Complex Needs. It is a popular choice for parents of children with special needs in Croydon. We provide a bespoke education for pupils using ‘state of the art’ facilities that enable us to offer our pupils the full range of EYFS and National Curriculum as well as a broad and balanced curriculum matched to their individual needs. Our pupils are supported in small class sizes, by well qualified and experienced staff, to help them realise their full potential. Main Duties will include: • Working with children with moderate-severe learning disabilities which may include ASD, Down Syndrome and ADHD.
• Planning and delivering various different therapeutic approaches according to a student’s needs.
• Delivering the provision of therapy on a 1:1, small group and class-based basis.
• Working in collaboration with other members of the therapy team including the School SaL Team, NHS Speech therapist and Occupational therapist and music therapist
• Working closely alongside teachers and TA’s both within the classroom and out.

• Reporting to Band 8 Speech and Language Therapy/Therapies LeadThe successful candidate will receive an excellent supervision package and opportunities to attend SIGS and CPD training events. We strive in ensuring staff are fully equipped with the knowledge to practice their roles effectively. St Nicholas is very accessible and served by public transport. Essential Criteria: • Relevant Occupational Therapy qualification
• Registered with HCPC and RCOT
• Awareness of Sensory Integration or Sensory regulation approaches/sensory integration qualification
• Experience in working within Multiple teams and complexities
• Experience of working with adults and/or children who have an intellectual disability and/or autism with additional needs (e.g. complex trauma, mental health needs, behaviours of concern)
• Ability to work collaboratively with a range of key partners
• Able to work sensitively with people and resolve conflict effectively
• Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the setting
• Substantial and relevant post-qualification experience with adults
• Skills in the management of data are also important as the role includes collecting and analysing data to inform various pieces of service delivery, development and project work
