Summary

Sandwell Adult and Family Learning Service has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Curriculum Quality Lead.

We are looking for a dynamic and confident manager who has experience of leading a team of tutors to outstanding performance. The successful candidate will work alongside the existing subject specialist quality leads and further develop the current offer.

SAFL is an established department sitting within Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC), the service holds an Adult Education Budget (AEB) contract issued by the West Midlands Combined Authority (£1.33 million). SAFL provides courses to over 1600 learners locally and borough wide. The courses offered are both nationally accredited qualifications and non-accredited courses at various locations throughout the borough.

This full time Curriculum Quality Lead post is a key appointment to ensure that we maintain our excellent standards in teaching and learning. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced person to take on this exciting role and support our borough residents to achieve nationally recognized certificates and progress in their lives.

The Curriculum Quality Lead will manage and further develop established staff and part-time tutors in their specialist curriculum areas. Ensure the comprehensive planning of provision across three main centres, as well as outreach venues, to include schools and community settings across the borough.

The post holder must have evidence of ability to develop and manage a curriculum programme that is responsive to and meets the needs of the Services objectives and priorities. Participate in assessment activities including internal quality assurance and engagement with external quality assurance officers. Knowledge and understanding of Ofsted, (the Education Inspection Framework EIF), SAR, moderation, standardisation, RARPA and the ability to contribute to quality improvement strategies. Range of recent successful teaching experience in the subject area they will manage. Evidence of ability to recruit, support and manage staff to perform to a high standard.

Sandwell Adult and Family learning would welcome applicants who have a proven record of experience managing the delivery of courses to adults 19+ in Digital, English, educational subjects and tailored learning.

The successful applicant will be required to hold a minimum Level 5 Qualification in the Teaching of Adults (e.g. DTLLS or equivalent).
Level 4 Subject Specialism* – this will be required in the subject area of management.
Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance qualification – IQA, those willing to work towards will be considered.
Level 2 English, Maths and ICT/digital qualifications* unless English, Digital and Maths is the subject specialism
(*Please note: Awarding bodies require English and Maths subject specialists to hold Level 5 Literacy or Numeracy specialism or be willing and able to achieve within 12 months)
Sandwell Adult and Family Learning Service has 3 main learning centres across Sandwell. You will be required to travel between centres daily and travelling expenses can be claimed according to the SMBC approved mileage scheme.
