Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary professional to lead the strategic regeneration and economic growth agenda across the borough. This is a unique opportunity to shape, influence, and drive inclusive economic transformation, unlocking billions in investment potential and delivering significant outcomes for businesses and communities alike.
As Head of Economic Growth and Strategic Regeneration, you will act as the lead expert on economic development and regeneration, guiding major programmes from vision through to delivery. This pivotal leadership role involves working with stakeholders at a senior level locally, regionally, and nationally to deliver high-impact outcomes, capitalising on inward investment, funding opportunities, and place-based innovation.
You’ll bring a strong track record in leading strategic regeneration or economic growth initiatives, with proven success in securing major funding and delivering complex, multi-stakeholder programmes.


Key Responsibilities


Provide expert leadership on economic growth and regeneration initiatives, aligning strategy and operations to drive forward transformation across the borough.


Lead the delivery of the Inclusive Economy Strategy, Town Centre Master Plan, and associated regeneration frameworks.


Build and manage strategic partnerships across public and private sectors to deliver joint initiatives and leverage funding.


Direct major regeneration projects, including infrastructure connectivity and redevelopment schemes, ensuring budgetary and regulatory compliance.


Develop business cases, funding bids, and programme/project plans to support delivery and sustainability.


Oversee effective performance management and continuous improvement of services and projects.


Commission expert studies and advice to support economic planning and viability assessments.


Provide visible and proactive leadership to a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring strong succession planning and capacity building.



Essential Skills and Experience


Demonstrable experience in leading regeneration and/or economic growth strategies at a senior level.


A history of securing significant external funding for development initiatives.


Proven ability to influence and negotiate with senior stakeholders across sectors.


Strong background in project and programme delivery, including budget and procurement oversight.


Demonstrable innovation and problem-solving ability, with a future-focused and inclusive mindset.


A solid understanding of the national and local economic development landscape.



Qualifications


A relevant technical or professional qualification, or equivalent substantial experience in a similar role.


(Desirable) Professional membership such as RICS, RIBA, or RTPI.
