The Role

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Team Leader for the Council’s Housing Benefits Team.

You will lead a team of Assessment Officers to ensure the efficient administration, determination and payment of claims for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support. You will also provide leadership support to a small team responsible for Local Welfare Provision.

You will support the development and implementation of policies and practices to ensure compliance with statutory and financial regulations.

The successful candidate will demonstrate proven leadership skills together with previous experience of assessing Housing Benefits and Council Tax Support, and up to date knowledge of the policies around Discretionary Housing Payments and local Welfare Provision. Our ideal candidate will have experience of working to deadlines and the ability to manage a busy caseload. You will also be required to have good analytical skills with a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for your team and our residents. You will be a confident communicator with the ability to explain complex issues both verbally and in writing.
