The Role and the Department
The Learning and Teaching Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Learning and Teaching Manager in coordinating day to day programme delivery, encompassing all areas of the taught student lifecycle from the point of enrolment to graduation. They will work closely with colleagues to maintain and enhance the quality of existing programmes and support programme developments, with a particular emphasis on the coordination of curriculum development processes.
The Learning and Teaching Coordinator will be responsible for organising a team of professional services staff, ensuring that the student experience is at the forefront of delivery. They will work closely with the Department Manager, the Learning and Teaching Manager, Directors of Studies and other key stakeholders in the school to deliver efficient and innovative professional support services across all L&T, student support and assessment activities. Whilst being based in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures, the postholder may also work alongside learning and teaching colleagues in other departments in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at key times of the year, working on specific tasks and projects.
The School of Modern Languages and Cultures is a leading centre of teaching and research in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hispanic, Italian, Japanese and Russian Studies. The School also hosts the BA in Visual Arts and Film and is home to the Centre for Foreign Language Study, which offers non-specialist learners the opportunity to learn a range of languages from beginners to more advanced levels. Our community of academics, teachers and support staff aims to foster a world-class student experience in all its disciplines. The School and its departments figure regularly in the top five in national league tables such as the Good University Guide, the Complete University Guide and the Guardian University Guide.
