Summary

The Government Property Agency is the largest property holder in government, with more than £2.1 billion in property assets and over 55% of the government’s office estate.

We are transforming the way the Civil Service works by creating great places to work, leading the largest commercial office programme in the UK, working towards halving carbon emissions from government offices, and achieving greater value for taxpayers. And we are looking for innovative, solutions-focused people to join our team.

Representing the best covenant in the UK – His Majesty’s Government – we are leading transformational programmes such as the Government Hubs Programme, Whitehall Campus Programme and Net Zero Programme, as well as delivering modern, cost-effective real estate service solutions.

Innovation and progress are at the heart of our behaviours. We foster a culture of lifelong learning, where curiosity and self-improvement are encouraged. And we’re dedicated to becoming a leading, inclusive employer both in the external market and throughout the Civil Service. Our strong emphasis on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) is not just about driving inclusion across our organisation, it is also about ensuring our services meet the needs of government departments and the civil servants who use our spaces.

Join our dynamic and diverse team that leads with purpose, improving sustainability, nurturing social value, driving inclusivity and flexibility, and kickstarting economic growth. We are driven by purpose, and you can be part of it too: where you make a meaningful impact; where you influence; where your voice really matters; where you help to shape our future direction.

The GPA is committed to representing the communities we serve by making Diversity, Equality and Inclusion part of everything we do.

To ensure that we are always recruiting and retaining a diverse mix of talent, we are particularly inviting applications from candidates who are disabled, ethnically or gender diverse, and people who identify as being part of the LGBTQ+ community.

This role offers the opportunity to use your stakeholder management and engagement skills to lead on stakeholder engagement on projects across the UK. Anyone appointable must be willing to undergo security clearance in line with the project's security classification.

We are looking to appoint a Stakeholder Manager reporting to a Project Director. You will be working within a small portfolio of projects within Whitehall Campus projects initially, although you may also be assigned to other projects as required, which could be outside London. Being on site three days a week will be required.

You will be joining a growing, diverse and multi-disciplinary team within the Capital Projects directorate at an exciting time as we deliver an ambitious programme, providing world class leading office working environments for our government clients and customers.

Every day will be different and varied, so you will never get bored working in an organisation that embraces diversity and respects the different perspectives they can bring. We offer a flexible approach to working arrangements and styles. As our programmes mature, precise roles and responsibilities may change, therefore the individual needs to be open, flexible and responsive to this, and have the knowledge, skills and experience to deliver stakeholder engagement across a wide range of projects.

Principally the role is centred around leading on engagement with internal and external stakeholders. This includes understanding clients project specific requirements and communicating project progress.

We will support you where you need it, helping you to develop the skills and knowledge you need to be an effective team player. You will work with various internal and external stakeholders. Including stakeholders from across government departments to deliver against challenging requirements, coordinating their commitment and contribution. You will build an understanding of the wider environment that we operate in and use this knowledge to horizon scan, make evidence-based decisions and adapt to changing priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client/Customer Journey
  • Stakeholder Engagement Planning
  • Business Case and Reporting
  • Project briefings and lessons learned

Alongside these responsibilities, you will act as a key part of the team contributing to the project’s management and leadership, bringing the Client Perspective into every facet (e.g., risk management). The post holder may hold line management responsibility for an HEO Project Support Officer and/or EO Project Administration Officer. Please note from time to time you may be required to fulfil duties outside of what is listed to meet the needs of the project and/or business area.
