Hybrid working with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.
The role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated qualified accountant (e.g. CIPFA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with extensive experience in local government finance to join the finance team in a strategic leadership role.
Key responsibilities:
To lead and deliver strategic financial planning across the council, including medium-term financial strategies, budget setting, and financial modelling
Provide financial modelling and scenario planning to inform strategic decisions
Advise on the financial implications of government policy changes, including the Fair Funding Review, Business Rates reset, etc
Deliver high-quality financial research and analysis to support service transformation and investment decisions
Support and challenge directorates on budget management, savings delivery, and investment proposals
What the client is looking for:
Qualified accountant (e.g. CIPFA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
Extensive experience in local government finance, particularly in financial planning and strategy
Strong understanding of public sector funding, including grants, council tax, and business rates
