About the Role
As Procurement Officer, you'll support the Procurement Manager in elevating procurement as a strategic enabler. You'll advise stakeholders across departments, manage a diverse portfolio of procurements-including high-value projects-and ensure compliance with the Procurement Act 2023 and internal policies.
This is a high-profile role with exposure to senior decision-makers. Your expertise will guide the organisation in securing best value, reducing risk, and integrating social value into procurement exercises.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end procurement exercises in line with policy, law, and strategic goals
- Draft and refine Statements of Requirement to attract strong market interest
- Advise teams on procurement planning, market engagement, and risk mitigation
- Embed sustainability, SME engagement, and social value where appropriate
- Manage contract negotiations and support implementation and monitoring
- Deputise for the Procurement Manager when required
- Maintain accurate procurement documentation and contribute to administrative tasks
What We're Looking For
- CIPS Level 4 qualification and sound public sector procurement knowledge
- Experience providing procurement advice in a regulated/public sector environment
- Familiarity with the Procurement Act 2023 (preferably with Transforming Public Procurement Certification
- Commercial acumen with strong risk assessment and contract management skills
- Able to influence, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively
- Demonstrates behaviours in: Making Effective Decisions, Working Together, Delivering at Pace, and Communicating and Influencing
