We are pleased to invite applications for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Neurosurgery at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, a leading centre of excellence in Paediatric Neurosurgical Care.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic senior Neurosurgical Trainee to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team.

We are really proud of our hospitals and facilities – we are the only Paediatric Hospital in the UK where all the services are located under one roof.

The Neurosurgery Service based in Bristol covers the West of England & the South West Peninsula, a population of 4.5 million people. It has an established Network within the South West and West of England and delivers the full range of neurosurgical procedures.

Start date: ASAP

Bristol is home to one of only four English Children’s Epilepsy Surgery Centres. There is a regional complex movement disorders and spasticity MDT witha Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy service and robotic Deep Brain Stimulation. We are the regional Paediatric Major Trauma Centre. There is a regional paediatric neurovascular service offering direct and indirect revascularisation procedures, as well as interventional neuroradiology investigation and treatment and gamma knife services. There is a strong regional paediatric neuro-oncology service, with availability of intra-operative MRI, intra-operative ultrasound, image guidance with Brainlab and Stealth, a neuromate robot, operative microscope, and CUSA.[JW1]

UHBW Gamma Knife has recently been commissioned as an ‘All Tiers’ provider. As such we are now one of 4 UK national centres delivering gamma knife to all commissioned indications to adult and paediatric patients, including neurovascular disease.

We have over a decade of experience in using iMRI in paediatric units in the UK. We were the second children’s hospital in the country to routinely use this technology.
