Summary

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Sefton MBC to assist with the appointment of a Payments and Billing Officer, on a 2-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £16.82 - £21.94 per hour

Summary:

The Payments & Billing Officer will support the Senior Payments & Billing Officer in managing the day-to-day operations of the Payments & Billing Team. The role involves overseeing financial transactions, supervising team members, ensuring compliance with council procedures, and maintaining accurate financial records. The officer will contribute to effective service delivery, foster inter-agency partnerships, and ensure a strong customer focus.

Responsibilities:

Support the Senior Officer in managing the team, including prioritising, allocating, and delegating tasks.
Supervise staff (up to Grade D), ensuring adherence to Council policies and performance standards.
Oversee timely and accurate financial transactions and monitor debt accruals.
Maintain budget records and prepare financial reports.
Represent the team in internal and external meetings.
Experience:

Experience supervising and supporting staff.
Experience delivering customer-focused services.
Experience working in partnership with various stakeholders and agencies.
Requirements:

Relevant academic or professional qualification or equivalent skills/experience.
Proven track record managing financial records (manual and electronic).
Skilled in preparing budget reports and statistics.
Competency in IT systems, including contribution to their development.
