About Us
Mires Beck Nursery is a registered charity providing day services for adults with autism and learning disabilities. Set in a tranquil rural location, our site offers horticultural and outdoor work opportunities that build confidence, develop skills, and promote wellbeing.

The Role
As our Estates Support Worker, you’ll play a vital dual role:
Maintaining our garden areas, pond, grounds, and facilities, ensuring a safe and attractive environment for all and working to support service users, helping them to learn and grow through hands-on outdoor tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Estates & Grounds Maintenance:
Cutting grass, weed, prune, and care for outdoor spaces
Maintain garden borders, raised beds, and seasonal displays
Carry out minor repairs, painting, and upkeep of site infrastructure
Assist in composting, plant care, and safe use of tools
Collaborate with the horticulture and estates teams to improve the site

Supporting Service Users:
Supervise and encourage involvement in horticultural tasks
Support individuals according to their abilities and interests
Foster a sense of pride, independence, and achievement
Promote inclusion, confidence, and personal development
Provide emotional and practical support, including personal care if required
Uphold safeguarding, health & safety, and inclusion standards

Compliance and Teamwork
Follow Mires Beck Nursery policies and health and safety guidelines
Attend training and team meetings
Maintain confidentiality and GDPR standards
Report safeguarding concerns promptly and appropriately

What We’re Looking For
A genuine passion for working outdoors and with people
Experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, or similar practical roles
Compassion, patience, and a supportive approach to working with adults with additional needs
Ability to use hand tools and small machinery safely
A team player with strong communication and organisational skills
Willingness to undertake training and personal care tasks as needed
A background in care, support work is beneficial but not essential – attitude and enthusiasm matter most.

A rewarding and meaningful role in a supportive, values-led environment
Ongoing training and personal development
The opportunity to be part of a unique and growing therapeutic project
Beautiful rural working setting surrounded by nature
Additional annual leave (33 days including bank holidays)
Free tea and coffee
Parking
