Summary
Horizontal Borer, East Kilbride, Circa £46,000 per annum
We're recruiting an experienced Horizontal Borer to join a precision engineering team based in East Kilbride. This is a full-time, permanent role with a fixed day shift and flexibility on start/finish times.
This is a specialist position suited to individuals with experience operating conventional horizontal boring machines in a manufacturing or heavy engineering environment.
What you'll be doing:
- Operating a conventional horizontal borer (e.g. Kerns Richard SH75 or similar)
- Working from mechanical engineering drawings to produce precision components
- Operating other machine tools as required (lathe, milling machine, drill)
- Inspecting and measuring your own work to ensure tolerances are met
- Assisting with standard operating procedures and continuous improvement
- Using a forklift or overhead crane to load and unload materials (where licensed)
- Following health & safety procedures and maintaining a clean work area
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience in a manual machining role, ideally horizontal boring
- Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical drawings
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Knowledge of safe working practices in a workshop environment
- Forklift and/or overhead crane licence (advantageous)
What you can expect:
- Circa £46,000 total package (£40,000 base salary, £5,000 employee ownership bonus (annually) and £1,000 performance-related bonus)
- 39 hours per week (Monday to Friday, fixed shift)
- Flexible start/finish time (e.g. 06:00-14:30 or adjusted to suit)
- 32 days annual leave
- Matched pension contributions (up to 5%)
