Summary

Fabrication & Machine Shop Supervisor, East Kilbride, £42,000 - £45,000

We're recruiting for a hands-on Fabrication & Machine Shop Supervisor for a permanent role in East Kilbride. The position involves leading a small team of machine operators and welders in a precision engineering environment. This is a day shift role with early Friday finishes and flexibility on start/finish times.

As a Machine Shop Supervisor, you'll be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the fabrication and machine shop
  • Leading, supporting and motivating a team of machinists and welders
  • Operating horizontal boring machines and other conventional machine tools (lathes, drills, mills)
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to plan and carry out machining work
  • Ensuring work is completed to required specifications and tight engineering tolerances
  • Carrying out inspections and maintaining quality throughout the process
  • Supporting the development of standard operating procedures and continuous improvement
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment


What you can expect in return:

  • Salary: £42,000-£45,000 depending on experience
  • Annual profit-share bonus
  • Access to employee share scheme with annual dividend
  • 39-hour working week:
  • Monday to Thursday: 06:00-14:30
  • Friday: 06:00-13:30
32 days annual leave (inclusive of public holidays) 5% matched employer pension contributions Standard rate paid overtime Long-term role within a stable, employee-owned business


What we're looking for:

  • Previous experience in a fabrication or machining environment
  • Proven leadership or supervisory background within a workshop setting
  • Skilled in the operation of conventional machine tools - particularly horizontal borers
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards
  • Forklift and/or overhead crane licence (advantageous)
  • Good understanding of health and safety in a manufacturing environment
