About the job.

National Highways is currently recruiting for an Assistant Claims Handler to join our team on a 12-month fixed term contract. As an Assistant Claims Handler, you will support the effective and timely resolution of claims by working closely with Claims Handlers and Claims Managers. This role involves engaging with various stakeholders, managing claim-related data, and supporting decision-making processes to help protect the interests of National Highways.

This is a hybrid role requiring attendance at our Birmingham or Mansfield office for a minimum of two days per week.

  • Receive and process new claims, ensuring accurate input into administrative systems to support audit trails.
  • Support straightforward claims, collaborating with stakeholders to gather necessary evidence and provide informed recommendations.
  • Support the progress of unresolved claims by uploading documents from our internal systems to the secure storage system of our external litigation partner.
  • Ensure accurate data entry across relevant claims databases, maintaining compliance and transparency.
  • Raise invoices for the national teams once settlements have been agreed, monitoring the in-boxes for confirmation that the funds have been received.

About You

  • Experience of handling claims or cases.
  • Excellent organisation skills and ability to prioritise.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
