Location: East London / Option for fully remote work

Hours: 30 per week

Pay: £15-20 per hour

Contract Type: Temporary, 2 months with potential to extend

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of survivors of domestic abuse? We're looking for a dedicated Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) to join our team in Tower Hamlets. This is a vital role for someone with strong advocacy skills, a trauma-informed approach, and a commitment to survivor-centred support.

About the Role

As an IDVA, you will work directly with survivors of domestic abuse who are at high risk of harm, providing safety planning, risk assessment, and support coordination. You'll play a key role in multi-agency settings, including MARAC, ensuring the voice and safety of survivors remain central in coordinated responses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality, trauma-informed casework and advocacy to survivors.
  • Undertake thorough risk and needs assessments, creating tailored safety and support plans.
  • Represent survivors in multi-agency settings such as MARAC meetings.
  • Build strong working relationships with local statutory and community organisations.
  • Maintain accurate case records and contribute to monitoring and evaluation processes.
  • Promote and implement equality, diversity, and anti-discriminatory practice in all aspects of your work.
What We're Looking For:
  • Proven experience working with survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence.
  • In-depth understanding of the impact of abuse and the practical, social, and emotional issues survivors face.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices for both adults and children.
  • Experience of working in a multi-agency environment and advocating effectively for clients.
  • Strong crisis management, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
Desirable:
  • Ability to speak Bengali or Sylheti.
  • A relevant IDVA qualification (e.g., CAADA/SafeLives/Women's Aid/DAPA), or willingness to train.
Why Join Us?

This is a meaningful opportunity to join a team driven by feminist values and survivor empowerment. You'll be supported in your professional development and encouraged to contribute to service innovation, ensuring your work makes a lasting impact on individuals and the wider community.
