Summary

Job Title: Housing Support Worker

Location: Luton (LU1 area)

Rate of Pay: £15.05 per hour (PAYE) = £16.87 inclusive of holiday pay

or £19.87 per hour (Umbrella)

Contract Type: Temp with optional Temp to Perm opportunity after 3 months

Hours: 40 hours per week (35 hours paid, 5 hours unpaid lunch), with rotating shifts including occasional Saturdays

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-respected national organisation for a Housing Support Worker to support residents in the Luton area. This is a temp to perm position, offering the chance to make a real impact in your community while growing your career with a supportive and mission-driven team.




The Role

As a Housing Support Worker, you will:

  • Provide person-centred support to ex-offenders in supported housing
  • Develop and maintain individual Support and Safety Plans
  • Liaise with Community Probation Practitioners and Court Staff to ensure appropriate support
  • Assist residents with housing benefit applications, budgeting, and general tenancy sustainment
  • Monitor property standards, reporting repairs and ensuring cleanliness
  • Maintain a small caseload (10+ residents) across 3-4 properties
  • Work both independently (including lone working) and as part of a wider regional team

Key Requirements

  • Enhanced Adult DBS (required, or willingness to complete)
  • Willingness to undergo HMPPS clearance
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle with valid business insurance
  • Experience in housing support, criminal justice, or a similar role is highly desirable
  • Confident with shift work: typical shifts are 8:00-16:00 and 14:00-22:00, with flexibility including occasional Saturdays (time off in lieu provided)
