Job Title: Project Lead – Annual Health Checks
Hours & Salary: 37 Hours Per Week - £39,500
Employment Status: 3 Years Fixed Term

What does this role involve?
As Project Lead, you’ll take responsibility for the successful day-to-day coordination of a city-wide outreach and community engagement programme. You will lead and support engagement team, oversee delivery plans, and ensure that the project is grounded in the lived experience of the citizens it serves.
A key feature of the role is building long-term relationships across statutory, voluntary, community, and faith sectors, and Primary Care stakeholders, ensuring strong collaboration and co-production throughout.
The project will be further guided by a multi-agency Steering Group, with active involvement from citizens with lived experience.
You will also lead on delivering promotional roadshows in accessible public spaces, helping to raise awareness of AHCs directly within local communities.
Key responsibilities.
Project Coordination & Delivery
• Plan and coordinate all aspects of the AHC engagement project, ensuring activities are inclusive, accessible, and outcome-focused.
• Line manage and support a small team of Community Engagement Workers.
• Maintain clear project timelines, deliverables, and monitoring systems.
Public Engagement & Promotional Activities
• Undertake and oversee promotional roadshows and outreach events in accessible public spaces such as shopping centres, libraries, parks, leisure centres, and community halls.
• Represent Midland Mencap at public events and local forums to raise awareness of AHCs.
• Ensure outreach activities are culturally responsive and inclusive of seldom-heard communities.
• Work with the Communications Team to align public-facing materials and campaigns.
Relationship Building & Partnership Development
• Develop and sustain strong, collaborative relationships with:
o Statutory services – public health teams, ICBs, NHS Trusts, local authorities.
o Primary Care stakeholders – GPs, PCNs, Health Facilitators, social prescribers.
o Voluntary, community, and faith organisations – including grassroots and cultural networks.
• Facilitate co-delivery opportunities and partner involvement in promotional efforts.
Steering Group
• Be part of the project’s Steering Group, including professionals and citizens with lived experience.
• Use the group’s insights to inform delivery, shape strategy, and reflect accountability.
• Ensure reports to Steering Group are well organised, transparent, and responsive.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning
• Track engagement, participation, and feedback data from outreach and roadshow activity.
• Contribute to project evaluation through reports, case studies, and insight summaries.
• Share learning across the organisation and with external partners to inform future development.
