Summary

Being a Visitor Experience Officer for the National Trust is all about people – connecting with them, inspiring them, and making sure they have the best possible day when they come to visit.

You will be working at Winkworth. This role is an hourly paid, fixed term role. Wherever possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we’re looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needs of the business. We’d give you as much notice of this as possible.

An example of working hours would be working 3 days a week, one of the regular days being a Sunday.

What it's like to work here
You’ll be reporting to the Property Operations Manager, at Winkworth Arboretum, part of the Surrey Landscapes Portfolio.

Winkworth Arboretum is a hillside arboretum in the heart of Surrey, created by Doctor Fox. His unconventional approach to planting and choice of trees and shrubs has created a masterpiece. Winkworth is particularly busy during Autumn colour, it's renowned for it's beauty and has received national press and visitors travel from all over to see it.

Winkworth has a small but hard working visitor experience team who pride themselves in offering excellent service to visitors, offering an exciting programme of events and work together to ensure the smooth running of the site.

What you'll be doing
As Visitor Experience Officer, your main focus will be on providing a great service for visitors. With your team, you’ll be welcoming people and inspiring them to really get to know Winkworth. This might include devising and running events and activities, and creating interpretive displays and other ways of bringing the place, and its stories, to life for everyone who comes here. You'll encourage visitors to take a closer look at nature and the landscape and how we play our part in looking after it.

You might be supervising and supporting volunteers and organising rotas. You’re likely to be checking standards of presentation on site, or helping to write for our web pages. You'll act as Duty Manager for the site as part of a rota, you'll be proactively helping across departments when we are busy, and support our visitor welcome team as required.

Please submit a cover letter with your CV. If you have any questions or want to discuss this exciting opportunity please contact the Property Operations Manger on collette.hamilton@nationaltrust.org.

You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.
