If you want to spend your days building relationships, getting to know people and enabling them to manage their homes and improve their lives - you belong at Bromford.

We’re looking for a housing worker to support our customers in our temporary accommodation scheme. You’ll help them to prepare to move on to a home where they can settle and gain independence.

Sometimes life is tough, and people need our help, or to have the confidence and skills to cope with life’s challenges. You’ll play a key role in helping customers with the responsibilities of running a home successfully, paying their rent on time, and offering the support and skills they need to set up their own home.

You’ll be responsible for developing a relationship that’s built on mutual trust with a small number of customers, in temporary accommodation, that require more intensive and specialist management. Through this relationship you’ll gain a better understanding of customer’s aspirations and goals; helping them recognise what might be holding them back or helping them identify and take responsibility for what might need to change to enable them to move on.

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS and Adult Barred List Check. You’ll be based at Griffin Place in Aylesbury (HP19 8FE).

So what’s the role all about?

  • You’ll spend most of your time out across the small number of sites of our temporary accommodation, getting to know your customers and the local community. It’s no 9 to 5 job – you’ll need to be flexible and ready to work with your customers, when it’s right for them
  • You’ll be able to build rapport quickly to support your customers, understand their short term individual needs and circumstances to make their time in temporary accommodation positive, and put any necessary long term support in place to help customers move on to settled accommodation
  • You’ll have honest and sometimes difficult conversations with your customers that will enable them to make more informed choices and better equip them to deal with life’s challenges. Whether it’s about changing behaviour to help the customer manage their tenancy better or prevent issues of anti-social behaviour, getting into work, being better with money, a healthier lifestyle or improving skills - having coaching conversations is the essential ingredient
  • You’ll have a great profile in your community and you’ll identify and get to know various agencies, groups and businesses in the local area that might help your customers achieve what they want out of life. You’ll proactively make connections between customers and these organisations and you’ll use your coaching skills to help customers make these connections for themselves.

You’ll be someone who already stands out from the crowd and can demonstrate that:

  • You see the best in people and have the capacity to coach and support
  • You’re tenacious and resilient - doing what it takes to achieve the right outcome
  • You have a track record of being self-motivated, flexible and able to manage your own workload
  • You have experience of housing and tenancy issues including. mental health, care leavers, money advice, welfare benefits and reforms or skills coaching
  • You have a reputation for first rate influencing, negotiating and relationship building skills.

By joining Bromford, (part of Bromford Flagship), you become part of a leading housing provider delivering community-focused services across the east, central and south west of England. We have a local approach, all backed by the scale and ambition of the Bromford Flagship Group. Join us to help create communities where people can put down roots, feel secure, and thrive.

The closing date is Wednesday 30 July with interviews taking place at Griffin Place, Aylesbury.
