2 x Full Time Homeless Assessment Officer (Fixed term contract 2 years)

Grade 10 £34,314 £37,035 PA

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Homeless Assessment and support services by for a Full time Homeless Assessment Officer. The Homeless Assessment and support services team are a dynamic and focused team who seek to provide comprehensive housing advice and interventions to prevent and alleviate homelessness.

The post holder will be required to be the first point of contact for customers accessing the service in several different ways, this can by direct presentation to the service over the telephone in writing or via our online access portal.

A key area of the role is assisting customers with self help and where necessary identifying solutions to housing problems, sourcing and providing Positive prevention outcomes and helping people to secure and sustain suitable accommodation. Homeless Assessment Officers are also required to fulfil the councils Legal Obligations in relation to statutory responsibilities in line with current Legislation and Guidance along with the Councils policy and procedures.

This role requires someone who has:

  • The ability to interpret and apply homeless legislation
  • Experience of providing housing and homelessness advice along with preventing homelessness.
  • Knowledge of the different types of housing options available
  • Ability to work flexibly and place the customer at the centre of service delivery
  • Working knowledge of Information Technology

The post holder will be required to work from various locations across the Borough (subject to change) and undertake visits as and when required by the service plus participate in the out of hour’s rota.
