The Role

We’re recruiting for a Data Sharing Manager here at the Ministry of Justice, to be part of our warm and collaborative Better Outcomes through Linked data (BOLD) team.

The Service Transformation Group brings together, for the first time, our digital, data, AI, security, project delivery and transformation teams alongside our three fantastic agencies: the Legal Aid Agency (LAA), the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) and the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA).

There are two core aims of the Service Transformation Group:

The Data Directorate sources, fixes and links data from across the justice system to develop products, tools and insights for leaders, policy makers, and front-line staff. We deliver the right high-quality data at the right time to the right people to improve decision making.

The post-holder sits within the Data Sharing Team, one of the most important workstreams of the BOLD programme. Facilitating cross-government negotiations to share data, that aim to unlock insights and analysis previously unavailable and drive the evidence base for effective public services.

Job Description

As a Data Sharing Manager, you will hold a fundamental position in the successful operation of the BOLD Data Sharing Team.

This role offers you a unique opportunity to drive innovation in how the team collates and reports on data sharing activities, enhancing transparency and efficiency. You will work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders across the Ministry of Justice and other government departments, navigating varying specialisms to support cohesive data sharing governance.

A key aspect of the role involves identifying and documenting complex governance processes, with a focus on streamlining and improving existing frameworks. Additionally, you will undertake monitoring of the team’s performance against key deadlines, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to senior leaders.

You will support the development of pioneering methods to transform the way in which data sharing is conducted across Data, Analysis and Justice Digital Directorates and play an integral role in the implementation and delivery of the new Data Sharing Strategy Roadmap.

Please note that this is a generalist role focused on data sharing governance responsibilities and does not include direct involvement in hands-on data activities.
