Cook – The Mountains Specialist Nursing Home
Location: Libanus, near Brecon, Powys LD3 8EN
Pay: £13.80 per hour
Hours: 35 per week | 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time | Rota includes weekends & bank holidays (every other weekend off where possible)

About The Mountains
The Mountains is a specialist nursing home providing compassionate care for older adults aged 65 and over who are living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and mental health conditions. Set in a beautiful rural location near Brecon, we offer a calm, respectful environment where residents feel safe, supported, and valued.
Your Role
As our Cook, you’ll play a key part in residents’ wellbeing providing nutritious, freshly cooked meals that meet their individual dietary needs.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing and cooking home-style meals to a consistently high standard
Planning varied weekly menus in collaboration with the care team
Catering for a range of dietary needs including allergens and texture-modified diets
Ensuring meals are served on time and presented attractively
Managing stock levels and placing orders within budget
Maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment and complying with food hygiene standards
What We’re Looking For
Previous experience as a Cook (care home, school, or similar setting preferred)
Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (essential); Level 3 or HACCP (desirable)
Good understanding of dietary needs, allergies, and safe food handling
Confidence working independently and adapting meals as needed
A warm, caring approach with a genuine interest in supporting older adults
