Summary
Transport Manager
Salary £50,000, Thornbury BS35, 34 days holiday incl bank hols, pension (Salary sacrifice), parking, bonus scheme, 38.5 hours a week, Current core hours 7am - 4pm Mon - Thursday and 7am-3pm Friday but flexible about start and finish times within core hours.
Friendly and successful manufacturing company in Thornbury are recruiting for a transport manager (new role) who would report to the Operations Director.
Responsibilities for the transport manager
- Planning and strategizing all transport logistics for three sites and a fleet of 12 vehicles
- Managing 2 established transport co-ordinators (one on site, the other at a different location) who react hour to hour to the transport plan
- Also responsible for all drivers conduct, training, PDP, infringements and transport KPI's
- Attend daily meetings and communicate changes and reset priorities with team
- Liaise closely with the production planner
- Responsible for the budget on all associated transport costs
- IT literate and familiar with ERP type systems, Microsoft suite, able to utilise systems for planning and reporting
- The ability to multi-task and be very responsive to customer demands is essential with lead times of 5 working days in a fast moving and quick turnround business environment
- Occasional travel to other site in Somerset where the other transport co- ordinator is based, so a driving licence is required.
Key Skills required for the transport manager
- CPC certificate in transport management preferred but not essential if candidates can demonstrate a suitable and relevant work history
- Requires previous experience of working in transport management or at a supervisory level leading teams of transport co-ordiator's and drivers
- Fast moving, volume production business, so the ability to multi-task and be very responsive to customer demands is essential
- Responsible for strategizing all transport related work, forward planning and budgeting
- IT literate and familiar with transport planning and ERP systems, producing reports and information for senior management team
- Full driving licence required
