Summary

We have two vacancies for a Security Officer within the Security Operations team which is part of the Facilities Division. The posts are offered on a fixed term contract until January 2026.

You will work an average 42 hours per week. These hours will be made up of 12 hour day shifts (06.00 to 18.00) and 12 hour nights shifts (18.00 to 06.00). You will work as part of a three person security team that, along with three other security teams, providing a 24/7 security provision for Lancaster University Bailrigg Campus and other satellite sites on a rotational basis. You will be required to work weekends, Bank Holidays and University Closure periods if rostered to do so. The posts attracts an allowance for Contractual Overtime and a Shift Allowance.

The emphasis of the role is to ensure a safe and secure environment for students, staff and visitors at all times. You will be a committed, friendly and be customer focused. You will be comfortable in dealing with potentially confrontational situations and have a working knowledge of health and safety. You should be confident when using your initiative whilst at the same time being a strong team player. Flexibility, integrity and the ability to think on your feet are essential requirements of this demanding post in a culturally diverse campus.

You should be educated to GCSE level in Maths and English, reliable with an excellent attendance record and be committed to high standards. You will be comfortable in using various computer software programmes and applications. You should also have a willingness to undergo development training.

It is essential that you hold a full driving licence that is valid in the UK.
