Summary
We are a large and friendly team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW) operating from University Hospital, Coventry and Hospital of St Cross in Rugby. Our large Acute Teaching Hospital has almost 1400 beds and is located in a PFI hospital which opened in 2006, situated just off the junction of the M6 and M69. We are a major trauma centre and tertiary and specialist referral centre for many specialities including Neurosciences and Stroke, Oncology, Haematology, Paediatrics, Cardiothoracic, Renal Medicine and Renal Transplant. We are also a large clinical trials centre with over 140 active trials currently recruited to. Our large Pharmacy department has an innovative approach to pharmaceutical care with floor-based medicines optimisation and management teams that utilise modern software applications to drive efficiency and clinical excellence. The Trust has recently introduced an all-encompassing EPR/EPMA system. We have strong links with the Medical School at Warwick University, the Department of Medicines Management at Keele University and the School of Pharmacy at Aston University. Work with the pharmacy AQA team to manage deviations, change controls and SOPs reviewing and updating relevant documents in advance of expiry dates. Support the optimal use of PTS (pharmacy tracker system) in aseptics for monitoring medicines workflow, and also intervention monitoring. Provide technical support for the chemotherapy prescribing system (MOSAIQ) under the supervision of senior pharmacists. Support the pharmacy AQA team with Datix investigations and provide assurance of relevant preventative or corrective actions. Support the provision of aseptically prepared patient specific cytotoxic products and CIVAS in line with aseptic Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) ensuring standards of quality, accuracy and timeliness are met.
