Summary
The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for managing customer issues, implementing initial containment and interim corrective actions, and managing the 8D process through to permanent countermeasure introduction. They are also responsible for effective communication with external customers on Quality related subjects and to support in effective review of APQP requirements during project phases. The role also includes maintenance of PFMEA's, completing reviews of failure modes and RPN's following successful closure of concerns, and support in promoting a "Quality culture" within the production facility. The Senior Quality Engineer is also responsible for identifying and implementing containment, root cause and permanent corrective action, as well as ensuring that robust verification and design validation/signoff has been achieved.
Salary: £50,000 per annum
Responsibilities:
- Effectively manage customer issues, implement initial containment and interim corrective actions
- Manage the 8D process through to permanent countermeasure introduction
- Communicate effectively with external customers on Quality related subjects
- Support in the effective review of APQP requirements during project phases
- Maintain PFMEA's and complete reviews of failure modes and RPN's following successful closure of concerns
- Support the promotion of a "Quality culture" within the production facility
- Manage internal non-conformance reports (NCR's), following up on corrective actions from departmental stakeholders against the target dates
- Identify and implement containment, root cause, and permanent corrective action
- Ensure robust verification and design validation/signoff has been achieved
- Carry out robust investigation of root causes of failures to determine non-conformance with product specifications
- Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability
- Provide advice on quality principles applicable to all stages of the manufacturing process
- Analyze statistical data / KPIs and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished products
- Promote continual improvement initiatives
- Supervise corrective and preventive actions
- Support BSI and customer audits when required
- Supervise plant quality team
Required Skills:
- Good understanding of Quality core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC)
- Qualified 6σ Greenbelt
- Ability to read and understand Engineering drawings and specifications
- Experience working within ISO9001 or IATF16949 standards
- Good working knowledge of PPAP requirements to AIAG standards
- Demonstrate effective use of 8D for problem resolution
- Experience of product / process audits (desirable)
- Ability to create, review, and update control plans
