This is more than just a job; it’s a chance to directly contribute to the care, supervision, and educational development of our pupils.What You'll Do:Support Pupil Welfare & Development:Assist with the daily care and well-being of pupils, including dressing, toileting, and greeting them.Be involved with teaching staff in addressing medical and social problems of individual pupils.Utilise your knowledge to support children with particular difficulties, such as anxious children or those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and carry out health care plans.Administer simple first aid and ensure children's safety as they access various areas of the school.Promote independence and positive behaviour, working within our school's behaviour policy to anticipate and manage behaviour constructively.Engage with pupils in play, stimulating language through conversation.Empower Our Teachers & Classrooms:Collaborate on the planning, preparation, and supervision of all class activities.Become competent in using IT to support both children and teachers.Organise pupils into activity and work groups, and work effectively with small groups.Lead outdoor play activities and assist with playground games.Help prepare and clear classrooms, ensuring books, stationery, and materials are readily available.Provide occasional supervision of classes during short-term teacher absences or PPA time, focusing on maintaining good order and keeping pupils on task.Contribute to Our Vibrant School Community:Foster strong links between home and school.Contribute to reviews of pupil progress, especially termly reviews.Promote inclusion and acceptance for all pupils within the classroom and the wider school.Be a positive role model for pupils and colleagues, contributing to the whole school ethos and environment.Promote positive values and good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict.Who We're Looking For:Someone with an understanding of how children learn and up-to-date knowledge of the Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.Familiarity with and ability to implement safeguarding policies and procedures is paramount, as we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.Experience supporting children in Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1, or Key Stage 2 is required, along with a record of attendance at relevant In-Service training.Excellent communication skills are vital to liaise effectively with children, parents, and staff, and fluent English is a requirement for this role to ensure effective performance and safeguarding.Personal qualities of sensitivity, humour, enthusiasm, thoroughness, and confidentiality are highly valued.A true team player who can establish good relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues.The ability to use initiative when necessary and a commitment to providing a broad, balanced curriculum for all children.While not mandatory, a Level 3 diploma or equivalent in an Early Years qualification or Supporting Teaching and Learning in school is desirable.At LEO Academy Trust, we are dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive working environment free from discrimination, and we expect all staff to embody these principles.
