The successful candidate would be hard working and enthusiastic with meticulous attention to patient care. They should be able to work well within a team and be excellent communicators. Candidates should have a minimum of two years post graduate experience as a doctor.

This post is an opportunity to gain experience in a variety of medical specialities with the successful candidate rotating across different specialities over the course of a year. Educational opportunities and departmental teaching will be provided to the successful candidate who will be supported to develop areas of interest including research and audit; they will be encouraged to attend Internal Medicine teaching and be offered a half day of self -directed learning time/ month.

Our staff oversee over 6,500 patient contacts every day, delivering high standards of healthcare from the following sites:

• Freeman Hospital
• Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI)
• Health Innovation Neighbourhood (on the former Newcastle General Hospital and Centre for Ageing and Vitality site)
• Newcastle Dental Hospital
• Newcastle Fertility Centre
• Northern Centre for Cancer Care, North Cumbria
• Northern Genetics Service
• Cramlington Manor Walks

These include a range of flagship services which deliver cutting-edge care (supported by state-of-the-art diagnostic services in both radiology and pathology) and are a catalyst for innovation to support pioneering clinical practice in the NHS.

The post will be supervised and therefore suitable for any doctor who has completed foundation training or equivalent who wishes to take advantage of the unique opportunities offered across medicine in the Newcastle Hospital foundation trust.



· Clinical: Whilst exact role may differ slightly by medical speciality, we would expect there to be a significant contribution to the day-to-day care of inpatients working closely with consultants and the wider multidisciplinary teams within each speciality. Attendance at outpatient clinics would be encouraged. It is anticipated that development of practical procedures will occur appropriate to each speciality. A clear timetable of duties will be provided. There will be a required commitment to the medical SPR grade rotawhich would attract the appropriate enhancements.



· Administrative: Responsibility for in-patient records and discharge summaries for those patients admitted to the ward and communication with General Practitioners as necessary.
