Summary

Gear Cutter

Salary £38,500 (including shift allowance), (if day shift is preferred £32,500 basic + all overtime at 1.5), Bristol BS10, 33 days incl bank hols, pension 4.5 %, 38 hours a week shift Monday to Thursday 6am - 2pm or 2pm - 10pm, Friday 6am - 12.00 on both shifts. If the successful candidate prefers working the days option 7am - 4pm early finish Fridays 7am - 11am, pension parking, bonus.

Friendly and successful aerospace engineering company in Bristol are recruiting for a gear cutter or gear hobber who would report to the section team leader.

Responsibilities for The gear cutter or gear hobbing machinist

  • Gear cutting, hobbing within a precision engineering environment

  • Candidates will need to demonstrate the ability to work from engineering drawings to produce machined parts and components to deadlines accurately.

  • Likely to have served an engineering apprenticeship however candidates who are time served in this area of machining could also be suitable if they can demonstrate a suitable track record in gear cutting, hobbing or broaching.

  • The types of machinery you would ideally be familiar with include Sykes V400, V10A, V10B, V10C, 3C and any experience in hobbing machines (Sykes H150/H160) and broaching would also be beneficial as well as any other types of gear cutting machines

  • The ability to inspect your own work (in conjunction with the Quality Department) to maintain quality standards of the products is required

Key Skills required for the gear cutter or gear hobbing machinist

  • Qualified in mechanical engineering, performing Machining operations however candidates who are time served in this area of machining could also be suitable if they can demonstrate a suitable track record

  • Requires a history of working in precision engineering producing gear parts, gear hobbing and or Broaching

  • Competent in accurately interpreting customer drawings and specifications

  • Competent in using all types of standard measuring equipment (Micrometers, Vernier's, etc)
