Summary


Do you have the skills and personality to join our phlebotomy team?

University Hospitals Dorset has an opening for an experienced Phlebotomist.

Do you have good literacy, numeracy and communication skills? Will you be able to work within a team and under your own initiative in this busy service?

This role is physically demanding, requiring you to have great attention to detail and accuracy when performing venepuncture. Are you looking for a career and are you passionate about patient care? Then this is the role for you.

The service operates between 07.30-16.30 Monday to Friday; 7.30-12.00 Saturday and Sunday and includes bank holidays.

Travel from the postholder's home to the new work base will be considered a normal commute. Any other changes not related to this relocation will be managed according to the relevant Trust or National terms and conditions.
• To carry out duties / responsibilities in accordance with the Trust and Directorate Policies, Protocols including Health and Safety Policies.
• To greet patients in a courteous and professional manner.
• To check the relevant details of patients requiring Pathology tests, resolving and outstanding difficulties.
• Obtain by venepuncture or capillary sampling the correct blood specimens(s).
• Ensure samples are correctly labelled, put into the correct containers and otherwise properly treated so as to be suitable for the analyses requested.
